1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
Hi (waves) I’m kinda boring. I’m 49 years old, and have been married 31 years to the love of my life. I have 3 grown children and 2 adorable grandsons. I live in Central Tennessee. I love to read and cook
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time? What is that? I work a full-time day job, edit for Secret Cravings Publishing and Write, plus attempt to take care of my family and house (the laundry mountain won’t attack. Promise) All kidding aside, if I’m not working I am usually reading. I also crochet and I love to cook and bake cookies with my grandsons.
3. What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
I try to write 1000 words a day when I’m working on a project. I usually write at night after the rugrats are in bed.
4. Where do you get your ideas from?
Anywhere and everywhere. An ad on TV, an overheard conversation, the news…
5. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
My new release, A Special Kind of Love has to be my favorite so far. It is very “special” to me. My son, Alex has Asperger’s Syndrome and the heroine in A Special Kind of Love, Sharon Daily, is the mother of an AS child. I really wanted to raise awareness of Autism and autism spectrum disorders, and share the joys and sorrows that come with raising a child with ASD. I also, really love this story’s hero, Tanner. He is made of awesome.
6. Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
Well, I don’t know… I’m not really a funny person. I’m kind of serious and quiet. Quirky? Now, that might apply. If I am home I am almost always in my nightgown. I hate clothes! lol
7. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
I think there is a little bit of life experience in All my books. From a Heroine’s love of coffee, horses and cowboys to an ASD child, etc.
8. Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
No, I never named my muse.
9. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I’d love to try my hand at romantic suspense, paranormal romance and maybe even a little BDSM
10. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
I have so many “favorites” Natasza Waters, Lori Foster, Donna Michaels, Sable Hunter, Larissa Ione, JD Tyler, Thea Harrison, just to name a few
11. Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
It always seems my current H/h are my favorites, and A Special Kind of Love is no exception. I love Sharon and Tanner. Sharon is a strong, resilient woman, with a loving heart and a strong sense of loyalty. Tanner is every woman’s dream… compassionate, honorable, brave.
12. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Waiting! Waiting to hear back after submission, waiting for edits, waiting for release, waiting for reviews…
13. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Read as much as possible. When you write, don’t stop and edit as you go, finish the manuscript and then you can go back and edit. JUST DO IT!
14. If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
The same things I do now. Read, edit, review, enjoy my life with my family.
15. What would be the perfect Romantic getaway?
My husband I love to go on cruises. We’ve done several in the Caribbean, I would love to do and Alaska cruise!
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
A SPECIAL KIND OF LOVE
Through Fights and Fire, Prejudice and Passion, Burns A Special Kind of Love
A divorced school teacher, estranged from her family, wants to start over. Sharon Daily moves to Gaines, Wyoming with her ten year old autistic son, Aaron. She hoped to find kindness and acceptance in this small town. She wasn’t looking for love…
Tanner West, the Fire Chief of Gaines, seems to have it all. Great job, loving family, and any woman he wants to warm his bed at night. But, Tanner has suffered too. A Native American in a white world, he longs to find love and acceptance. He is ready for more than someone to share his bed. He wants someone to share his life. And Sharon really lights his fire.
Making a life with Sharon will require A Special Kind of Love.
The deep baritone of his voice rolled over her skin like a caress. She felt hot and cold at the same time and goose bumps crawled down her spine. She was in such big trouble.
“I didn’t expect to hear from you so soon,” she cooed.
“I don’t want to scare you off, but I really had a great time today. I want to get to know you better. I thought Aaron would be asleep by now and we could talk.”
“He is…asleep I mean. What do you want to talk about?”
“Where are you?”
“Um, I’m in bed.”
“Oh, man, now I have that visual in my head. I’ve been dreaming about you in bed. In my bed.”
Dang this man was coming on strong. But I kind of like it.
“Really? You are a naughty boy.”
“You have no idea. What are you wearing?”
Sharon laughed. “Sorry to ruin your fantasies, big boy, but I’m wearing flannel pajama pants and a T-shirt. I’m sure that’s not what you pictured.”
“I was picturing nothing…” Sharon barked a laugh “That’s not what I meant! I mean I didn’t have anything specific in mind.”
The poor guy was stammering. She loved being able to fluster him.
“What are you wearing, Mr. West?”
Silence met her question.
“I’m not sure I should answer that question.”
“Fair is fair, I answered your question. Now answer mine.”
“Boxer shorts,” he mumbled.
She closed her eyes and pictured him in her mind. She knew he was muscular, she could just imagine his chest, smooth and tan. Would he have a hairy chest or smooth? Smooth she bet, considering his Native American ancestry. A six pack, at least and maybe a happy trail heading down behind the waistband of his shorts. She licked her suddenly dry lips.
“Do they have smiley faces on them?”
“No, never. SpongeBob.”
She laughed again. When was the last time she had laughed this much? Not in too long to remember.
“I don’t believe you.”
“No, really they’re just plain. But I made you laugh.”
“Yes, you did. You do that a lot. Thank you.”
“I love the sound of your laughter. I want to hear it all the time.”
That had to be about the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to her
