Linda Picl, Author of "Angelea's Dreams of Yesterday" and published by Beau Coup Publishing, is with me today to talk about her latest book along with talking a bit about herself.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
First of all let me say thank you for having me. Then I can tell you I am a library clerk from the Midwest who always loved books. At first it was all kinds of books until I ran into romances and then paranormal romances. Working in a library you get all kinds of recommendation’s for books to read but I always came back to romances. So one day after we had moved to a rural part of Indiana, I found all kinds of extra time, so I decided to try to write. That was about ten years ago and I have stopped yet.
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love to garden. I am a retired master Gardner in Wisconsin. Now the only gardening I do is in containers every summer. I love to dig in dirt. In my gardening and in my writing.
3. Where do you get your ideas from?
Surprisingly in music. I hear a song and think…now there’s a good idea for a book.
4. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, which would be your favorite and why?
I think my newest book Angelea’s Dreams of Yesterday. It’s a paranormal romance. I love to ghost hunt so incorporating that into my writing was a lot of fun.
5. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
Mostly imagination. Of course there are some things writers know well so they will add that concept to the book.
6. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I think I will stick with romances and paranormal romances, maybe someday I will try pure horror.
7. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
My favorites right now are Rae Anne Thayne and Victoria Laurie. Both excellent authors.
8. Who are your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
I think Angelea and Nate from my newest book just because they had so much to work through, it made them very interesting to write.
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
I have no imagination so I have to work for every idea I come up with. It is not a fast process for me.
10. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Do it. Do it now before you chicken out and regret not trying it forever.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
My new release is Angelea’s Dreams of Yesterday. It’s about Angel and her boyfriend of ten years Nate. After a diving trip in the Atlantic where they find a few trinkets in a sunken ship they come home only to have Angel pass out as soon as she tries to put on a necklace she found in the ocean. When she wakes up in the hospital she is no longer Angel, she is Angelea and she’s sure she doesn’t belong in the present, she belongs with her husband Alexander. The only problem is he’s been dead for a few centuries. Now poor Nate has to find a way to get her back to the present and rid himself and her of one nasty ghost.
My next book is part of a Christmas book being put out by Beau Coup Publishing. My part will be called Belle’s Bundles of Joy. It will be out around Christmas.
I am also working on another paranormal book with the characters from Angelea’s Dreams of Yesterday. It is a story about Angel’s cousin Missy and the mansion she has that just started to be haunted. Doors rattling and deaths bring Angel out to help her cousin rid her home from more ghosts from the past. The working title is 73 Butterfly Lane. Which I hope to get published sometime next year.
Here is an excerpt from Angelea’s Dreams of Yesterday.
Nothing short of a miracle will convince Angelea she’s the person everyone claims she is. She thought she was just waking up from a nightmare, but her nightmare is just beginning. Her doctor tells her she’s someone named Angel Bennett, someone she’s never heard of and the bruises on her body tell her something horrendous has happened to her, but what? That’s something no one can figure out.
Nate Matthews knows who Angelea really is. She’s his lover and he’d hoped his future wife. But when she awakens in the hospital after a routine surgery and she claims she’s married to a man named Alexander from a time long ago, he knows they will both be up against something no one has ever had to face before. Maybe something evil. How will he convince the love of his life she is not married to a pirate?
Here are the links to the books.
