1. Tell my readers a little bit about yourself before we go on.
Hi! My name is Kristina and I am the reviewer/blogger behind Kristina’s Books & More. I’m a Junior in college, majoring in English. I’ve had a strong love of reading my entire life. My dream after college is to work for a publishing company or a library. When my nose is not buried in a book I enjoy traveling, listening to music and watching movies.
2. When reading a book that you are reviewing, what are you basically looking forward to when you do read the book?
This is going to sound a little weird, but when I finish a really good book I get this tingly feeling in my chest. It’s sort of like happiness radiating outward. Books that receive a 5 star rating from me always produce that feeling. Other than that, I want to have that moment of escape- of stepping into someone else’s shoes and experiencing things from someone else’s perspective. I love to read, so I mostly look forward to being captivated by what I’m reading.
3. Is there a specific genre that you read the most? If so, what is it and why?
I tend to stay in the romance genre, but read specific subgenres. My particular favorites are Paranormal Romance and the other is Scottish (Highland) romance.
I love Paranormal Romance because it’s so unique and so many fascinating and intriguing things can happen. There are endless possibilities. And I love Scottish Romance because who wouldn’t love a big, strong man that falls completely in love with a woman. The historical touch is nice, too!
4. If you could tell us fellow authors anything from the reviewer’s point of view to make our stories better, what would it be?
This is a tough one because every reader is different. I guess my advice is to really be invested in what you’re writing, really be passionate and in love with the story you are writing because it really translates into your writing. Write for yourself, as long as you’re happy with the finished product, nothing else matters.
5. What is probably the best book that you’ve reviewed so far and why did you like it?
I’ve been very lucky to have reviewed a lot of really good books since I’ve started. I’ve enjoyed every single one, some more than others, but I honestly don’t know if I could pick the ‘best’ book because they’re all special in their own way.
6. Have you ever thought about writing a story yourself? If so, what would you like to write?
I do write on occasion, although I have never finished a story before. Last year I took a creative writing class and got really good feedback on a 9 page paranormal story I wrote. I have an idea for a novel, but don’t have the time to sit down and write it. (or at least I keep telling myself that) Maybe one day I can finish something and publish it.
