I was very lucky to have met Lisa at this years 1st annual RNConvention.....and she's amazing!
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
My name is Lisa Horvath, I am a stay at home mom and wife. I grew up and live in Florida. My husband is a professor at Kieser University, he teaches the occupational therapy program. My gorgeous son, Kaden, is 7 years old and getting ready to start second grade. OMG!
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love scrapbooking, playing games with my son, and reading. I write in my spare time, which isn’t often enough.
3. What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
When I’m in writing mode or an idea takes over, I will sit through the night, however, having a little one in need of something every five minutes can interrupt the mode altogether. I usually write when everyone is sound asleep.
4. Where do you get your ideas from?
Most of “Concealed Passion” is everyday realities for women. The rest comes from my very imaginative and sexual inner self.
5. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
I am halfway through the sequel to “Concealed Passion “ and it is a very strong but tangled story. I get caught up in it so easily, even I have a hard time with what direction it’s going in. It is very emotional and sexual. The first one gave me the goose bumps, the sequel gives me tingles in all the right places!
6. Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
Ok, when I was in Girl Scouts at a father and daughter project, I remember asking my dad how to spell stewardess. Of course, he didn’t know how, but as far back as I can remember I wanted to be one. After graduating high school, I attended Southeastern Academy for the travel industry. I was hired by Continental Airlines to be a now, “flight attendant” and they flew me to NJ to find housing. Having never been on a plane before, did not like it one bit. I took the next flight back home and went on to get my cosmetology license.
7. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
“Concealed Passion” is about 50/50. It’s everyday issues being a wife and mother, mixed with the CIA, infidelity, mafia, hostage situations, and lots of gourmet sex.
8. Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
Maya, is the main character, and my muse. She is partly me, just stronger and with bigger balls!
9. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I don’t think I could write other genres, my book came about because I ran out of books to read at the library. I was reading 6 books every week. One day I said to my husband, “I should write a book, one that has everything I want in one story.” He said, “Yeah, right.” Six months later it was in print.
10. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
I love Nicholas Sparks! Which was awesome for me to be on Books a Million’s bestsellers with his Safe Haven #3 and me at #4 with Concealed Passion. I still stare at that photo in disbelief.
11. Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
My main characters, Maya and Rafael, who will continue on in the sequel.
12. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Most definitely BALANCE. I am first and foremost a mother and wife, which both take up most of my day. There will be days I am cleaning the mirror in the bathroom and notice my eyebrows have become one.
13. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
I never wanted to be a writer. I jumped in because I had a story to tell. I would recommend classes and research and industry know how. I am just learning and unfortunately the hard way, by making all the mistakes first.
14. If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
Honestly my daily life wouldn’t change. Laundry, ironing, cleaning, dishes, yard work, pool, playing with my son, cooking……..
15. What would be the perfect Romantic getaway?
For me, it would be no husband, no children. Just me, a beach, a drink and a sexy book!
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Concealed Passion is about a woman in an unhappy marriage and lost in the demands of motherhood, who takes a solo vacation in hopes of finding herself.
Maya thinks that all that awaits her is warm sand, umbrella drinks and a new perspective. She has no idea her entire life is about to change. Rafael, a Special ops CIA agent in the midst of a complicated case, will try to save Maya from dangerous situations, but who will save Rafael from her. In this deceitful web of lust and survival, Maya and Rafael will find everything they weren’t looking for.
After you are done being made at me for the ending, know the sequel is worth the wait.
I wanted to do things that I don’t do at home. I wanted to dance, get another tattoo, go shopping, drink too much and just enjoy my freedom.
We stood in front of each other, I took his hand in mine, then put my arm on his shoulder. He reached around my waist and pulled me closer. Too close. The heat from his body gave me the goose bumps and sent a shiver down my spine. With each heated breath he took against the skin on my neck, I felt my body relax. Like singing a lullaby to a child. He spun me around and back into his arms. Closer to his body than before.
