Jamielynn Boothe from Beau Coup Publishing is with me today talking about her book "Dark Moments and Silver Linings" as well as more about herself.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
Oh where to start lol…Okay I’m a southerner living in Connecticut. I am from a small town in Virginia where I grew up. I couldn’t get away with anything because everyone knew everyone. I am forty-eight years old, single, I love art, museums, music, movies, naps, time with friends, reading, writing of course, and I am a Christian. I actually intend to start writing more Christian based romances. I am laid back and kind of shy. I’m very much a romantic and very affectionate and sensitive. Hmmm, I guess that’s all for now.
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love putting my headphones on and listening to my favorite kind of music which is country, gospel, and there’s times when I want to rock out to release some energy. I enjoy reading and watching a movie at times. I love going to church and reading Gods word.
3. Where do you get your ideas from?
So far honestly I have gotten most of my ideas from my own life or from someone I care about. Also, from societies issues. I write from the heart so I tend to try to touch my readers emotions the best that I can.
4. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, which would be your favorite and why?
I have to say Nightmares and Dreams, which is my first novel. It’s still my baby and it touches home in great depths. Even though it’s real deep and intense, it holds a meaning that millions can relate to.
5. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
There’s a part of each story that I have written that is based in some way or another on something from my life. I’m sure in a way I will always write that way.
6. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
Well, I am a born again Christian since my last release, so I now truly feel God speaking to me and I know He wants me to spread His message through the gift of writing that He blessed me with. I will be writing Contemporary Christian Romances for the most part, some may be historical, based in the WWII era. I am very excited about it. I have so much to write about and pray that many will enjoy Gods word through my books.
7. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
Nicholas Sparks and Dean Koontz are my all-time favorites, but I enjoy reading from a new author occasionally.
8. Who are your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
So far Tracy Brown is my favorite, from the Nightmares and Dreams Trilogy. I love her southern belle personality and her strength.
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Patience lol…along with that sometimes we all have writers block so it’s difficult when you struggle writing a blockbuster or even a short story and you sit at your computer and you feel like you are banging your head against the desk, with nothing coming out.
10. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Never give up hope. I remember when I finally sat in front of my laptop and started writing my first novel, Nightmares and Dreams. I told myself that it will never get written if I don’t start it. I haven’t turned back since. Write every day if possible. Even if it’s only a couple hundred words. If you write SOMETHING you are still writing. When you are writing your first draft of something, do not worry about editing it. That will happen later. Just write, let it flow and make the changes on the second or third draft.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now? Well, the sequel to Nightmares and Dreams is titled Dark Moments and Silver Linings. It’s more on the romantic side than the first book in the trilogy and yes, it has some pretty hot scenes, if you know what I mean lol. It furthers the story with Tracy and Brad, instead of Christy and Heather and tells about how their love blossoms and how she takes care of the garbage of her marriage to her ex. It’s rather intense but in a good way.
Tracy had moved to Provincetown with Christy and Heather to start a new life for herself. She lived in a new town, away from all of the nightmares of her past, or so she thought. She painfully realized that running away from her past would not free her from it. Because of her nightmares and fears and a strong suggestion from her therapist, she had to return home to Moneta, Virginia.
Once home, and with the help of Brad Washburn, she had to deal with more than her fears. She had to face and deal with her feelings for Brad, the man who had saved her life two years ago. Having become close friends, both Tracy and Brad had begun to have deep feelings for one another, but never revealed them. With her staying with him under his roof for the two weeks she was home, all of that changed.
Passion rose and love flew as their time together became hotter than a furnace. Can Tracy fight her fears and demons and handle her feelings for the man who saved her from death? Can she deal with the consequences of their lust and love? Will Brad be there for her until the end or will he be like her insecurities want her to believe? Will there be more dark moments or will there be silver linings?
“I’ll take a Long Island Ice Tea, please,” Tracy told the bartender.
“Oh, do you plan on getting a little tipsy tonight?” Brad asked her.
“I don’t know, maybe a little,” she said with a wink.
“I better drink light then, since I’m the one driving.”
You might be doing a lot more than that, later, she thought to herself.
They waited for their drinks as they watched the few people that were on the dance floor. It wasn’t very busy since it was Tuesday night and most people had to work the next day. Plus, it was a small establishment that hadn’t been open very long, from what Brad told her. They got their drinks, and Brad paid for them, then they walked to a small table near the dance floor. Tracy didn’t recognize the song playing, but it had a good beat to it, which made her want to do more than sit at a table. Brad seemed to pick up on that and asked her if she would like to dance.
“Why, thank you, kind sir,” she said in her southern voice. “I would like that very much.”
He smiled, and they sat their drinks down on the table, he took her by her hand, and led her out onto the floor. It had a country beat to it, and Tracy loved country music and dancing, so she felt right at home out there moving around. Brad, on the other hand, seemed to have two left feet, and she tried hard not to laugh at him. She appreciated his efforts, so she smiled and moved into him. Once she allowed herself to be close to him, Brad had no more problems.
He suddenly felt alive. Tracy looked so hot tonight, as usual, but when she just leaned into him and he wrapped his arm around her, he felt as if he was on another planet altogether. It was almost as if another person stepped into his body and took over, everything else became natural to him. With one arm around her waist and her hand in his, they moved together with ease. Her fragrance intoxicated him and her eyes were mesmerizing. He could feel the softness of her skin against his hand on her back and it was all he could do to control himself. The way they moved together was causing some erotic thoughts and feelings in them both, and Brad suddenly became aware of the fact that he was beginning to get more than just aroused. He didn’t want to stop dancing with her, but he wasn’t sure what to do. If she felt his erection, would she be offended or would she enjoy how she affected him?
Tracy sensed that something was bothering Brad but at first didn’t pick up on what it was. She knew he was enjoying himself by the way he held her and looked into her eyes. Maybe he was a little nervous or a little shy, she wasn’t sure, but that seemed unlike him. Then, when they moved a certain way and she had to lean into him more than she did at first, she found out exactly what the situation was, and she was suddenly more turned on than she was earlier. She could feel his rigid cock press against her, and damn did it feel nice. She looked into his eyes and smiled deep into his, letting him know that in no way, shape or form should he be worried.
Before she knew what had overcome her, she pressed her groin into his and stayed there. She stared deep into his eyes, held his face in her hands and held her breath. She slowly closed her eyes, then reopened them, giving her best lust filled gaze. Without saying a single word, she told him what she wanted, and he read her message perfectly. They forgot all about the drinks on the table and the rest of the song. They both had one thing in mind and that was to get back to his place as soon as possible.
