I am happy to have a fellow Secret Cravings author with me today.....Gray Dixon!
She is talking with us about her book "Master Knight' as well as giving us a snippet of her 2nd book in the series 'Master Prince'
Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
As my bio states: “What’s to tell?” Gray Dixon is my nom de plume and I do so for various reasons, one of which is because I write erotica with BDSM elements. Other than that, I enjoy many different things when I’m not writing or reading when I get a free moment. I’m married, have a grown child, grandchildren, a dog, fish, and a house too big to take care of since I started writing. One day, I’d like to retire to a Caribbean island, in a condo with housekeeping services, and enjoy the sunshine and beach so I can write more interesting stories.
Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
If I get the time, I like to sew. I learned when I was about ten years old and always found it a stress reliever. I can lose myself for hours putting something together from nothing. If not making something new, I read. Paperbacks, not an ebook unless only way. I love the feel of flipping those paper pages.
What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
My ideas usually formulate about an hour before I go to bed. I guess I’m tired and my brain is open to new possibilities. I lay there in bed, in the dark and run the next scene through kind of like a movie until I’m too sleepy to remain awake. In the morning, I run the ideas through as I’m taking care of email, promo, etc. and then I get to writing something down. I spend several hours writing, whether or not words come to me or make sense when they do. I edit once I’m into at least three to four chapters to make sure I’ve got the plot going properly and then continue on.
Where do you get your ideas from?
The series I’m contracted for came to me one Sunday afternoon as I watched television. Not sure really where the idea came from, just popped into my head. After about four to five hours, I wrote the mini-synopsis for the entire seven book series and each individual storyline for each. The novella, Cristale’s Awakening, again just happened. I finished writing the first book in the series right before the holidays and thought I’d take a break. Well, out of the blue, the story came to me and I wrote it over the holidays and submitted it.
Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
My favorite is the one coming out any day, Master Prince. Mitchell Prince is an attorney, the chief counsel for Knight Enterprises and Club Tabu’s representative. I found it stimulating to get into his brain and portray him as a strong, yet vulnerable character. Now, I have to say, though, the third in the series, Master King, is turning into an interesting and fun story. I’m about half-way into it and I’m having a challenging time making it different. The main female character pushes his buttons and they have a love/hate relationship that is very exciting to write. Who knows? By the time I finish Jared’s story and on to the next one, Master Marshal may be my new favorite.
Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
Gosh, I don’t know. I’m such a serious person normally, so when I do or say something humorous it’s usually on the warped side of funny. I like slapstick comedy, if that counts.
Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
A little of both, but I won’t tell you which ones they are. Ha Ha.
Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
Not sure if I’d call it a muse. Neither male or female, the “person” who talks to me when I’m writing is the character I’m in the POV at the time. Each tells me who they are and what they want to say. I listen and write.
What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
Maybe historical, set in Ireland. Scotland would be a close second, but the “highlander” has been worked by many a writer who are better skilled than I am on that subject.
Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
I have a number, but I just finished Blood Line by James Rollins and I thoroughly enjoyed, and I’m in the middle of reading something by Kate Quinn. I like to read authors I’ve never read before to get a taste of what is out there. I also read what I don’t write which opens up entire new worlds for me.
Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
I answered this before, but I’ll say again. Marcus Knight, followed closely if not a smidgeon more, Mitchell Prince, and my newest evolving Sir, Jared King. What can I say, they’re all delish. Now, Hunter Steele from Cristale’s Awakening could give the Bad Boys of the Big D a run for their money if he tried hard.
The ladies, all of them. There’s a little bit of me infused into their characters. I was right there beside them feeling their pain, and pleasure.
What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Finding the time to effectively market and brand my product. Not an easy task when there are so many books and authors out there.
What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Keep writing, the more you do, the better your skills become. Learn to edit your work effectively so you don’t repeat the same mistakes. Follow publisher’s style sheet and/or instructions for submissions to the exact requirements. It is amazing how many are discarded or overlooked because of that one simple thing.
If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
I’ve had so many different types of careers over the years, I can’t think of anything but the paths I took. Some I enjoyed, others I could have done without, but I wouldn’t have known unless I tried. I’ve worked hard all my life and thought I’d relax and “retire” but that didn’t last long when I decided to write. Because I could, I did. Ask me in a couple of years and I might be doing something else. Who knows? Life is fluid.
What would be the perfect Romantic getaway?
A beach resort and any island would work, with spa facilities of course to work those kinks out, great restaurants on the property because I like good food, and a nice comfortable bed with luxury linens to enjoy sleeping and playing upon. Yep, that sounds perfect.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Actually, I have two out. They released only weeks apart, but I’ll talk about Master Knight, Book 1 of the series. The Masters of Tabu are the journeys of college friends from Dallas, Texas, seeking redemption, healing and love when they least expect it. Hot days and sizzling nights await—Marcus Knight, Mitchell Prince, Jared King, Shane Marshal, Brock Dragon and Jagger Squire with Simon Tempest, a friend of Marcus Knight rounding out the co-owners of Club Tabu, a BDSM private club. Dallas will never be the same. There are seven books in total. The next one is due out within the month and the others follow every three to four months. Do I have a lot of writing to do? Yeah, I do.
Marcus Knight, entrepreneur and CEO of Knight Enterprises, is a Dom with a darker side. After a nasty divorce, he’s sworn off any emotional involvement with any woman. By accident he meets a woman at a party when he travels to New York City for business. She’s too young and inexperienced with his lifestyle. Or so he thinks.
Khari Bradford, small town girl in search of fame and fortune on the Broadway stage. On a chance meeting, she meets an older man who captivates her. Within a short time, she becomes his newest submissive, but wonders how she ended up with him instead of on Broadway.
Will her new aspiration have her lose both dreams, Broadway and her Knight after discovering he has no intentions of staying in New York or with her? Will Marcus return to Dallas and give Khari her dream, but lose the woman who makes his heart sing?
Tentatively, tremulously, she opened her mouth to speak.
His tall, solidly muscled body leaned over her, surrounding her with the sumptuous, sinful scents of his cologne. A slow, sensual smile stretched the corners of his hard mouth. Leaning lower, his lips brushed hers, barely. A delicate caress so light she thought at first she imagined the touch. Her breath went fast and short. Her throat tightened with a suppressed moan.
He lifted his head and brought two fingers under her chin, tracing his thumb along her lower lip, slowly, deliberately. She fluttered her eyelids until they completely opened to study the brilliance of his concentrated look piercing her with such intensity, powerful and predatory. Heat and more moisture pooled between her legs. Surprised by how aroused she became by a mere glance from him, her sex clenched from his focus on her. As the feathery touch of his fingertips grazed over her cheek, she went weak all over and her knees almost buckled out from under her.
“Not yet, my pet. Later. After we talk. Get in.” His voice was as smooth as velvet, yet firm in his direction, rendering her speechless, unable to fight his command.
Ducking her head to clear the doorframe, she slid onto the leather seat and adjusted her jeans as best she could. God, I hope he can’t see how wet I am.
The driver’s side door opened, and Marcus got situated behind the steering wheel. She turned her attention away and glanced out the window. She needed to get control of her emotions, or she wouldn’t survive long in his presence without breaking down.
Minutes passed slowly before he broke the silence between them. “You can call your friends.”
“And tell them what? I’ve been kidnapped?”
“Your sassing me will earn you more punishment, Khari. Tell them you’re with an old friend and won’t be back until late.”
His words were stern, and she knew he meant the punishment part. The call was made and ended in less than a minute. Silence again fell within the confines of the luxury vehicle.
“Unzip your jeans.” His gruffness took possession of the air that lay between them.
“Don’t question me, pet. Have you so easily forgotten when I tell you to do something, you do it? No questions asked.”
She harrumphed. “You’re not going to stop calling me that, are you? And no, I haven’t forgotten. Anything.” She crossed her arms over her chest and mumbled. “Still demanding I see, Marcus.”
“You’ve lost whatever respect you had over the past several months. Do I have to pull over and indoctrinate you on the proper responses to my commands?”
“Okay, fine.” She raised her hips slightly and yanked the fastener down after unbuttoning the brass closure. “There. Satisfied, Sir?”
“Good girl.” He extended his hand and pushed past the opening and stopped short of her clit. “You’re not shaved.” He withdrew his hand.
She turned her head toward him. “Uh, duh, no. I thought I’d take a vacation since I didn’t have to please you.”
“That will change.”
“Uh, I don’t think so. You’re not my Master, or Sir, or whatever you were before. I make my own decisions now.” She folded her arms over her breasts.
A low snigger escaped his mouth before he answered. “Really? Do you want me out of your life, Khari?

Hope everyone enjoyed the excerpt. Here’s a little snippet and blurb for Master Prince, due out soon.
Blurb for Master Prince:
Mitchell Prince, is a Dom with an attitude. He’s the Chief Counsel of Knight Enterprises and has a private practice in Dallas, Texas, which keeps him busy. He’s also a co-owner in Club Tabu and tends to watch and monitor more than have a sub of his own. He has yet to find the right partner to fulfill his darkest desires to control and challenge him physically and mentally.
Guilianna Hathaway, nicknamed Anna by her closest friends, is no princess but can play with the Big Boys in the courtroom. She’s a hard-edged attorney representing women and children. Her latest client files a civil suit against Club Tabu and the owners for negligence due to an alleged rape and assault of her client by another patron of the BDSM club. She’s curious about the goings on in an establishment catering to the abuse of women, or what she assumes happens there and returns to the “crime scene” for research and is stunned and shocked by what she finds. Once she meets with Mitchell Prince at Club Tabu, not only is she attracted to the tall, dark and handsome attorney representing the club, she’s also drawn into the BDSM world. Discovering she has a submissive nature is a revelation she’s willing to explore. With the right Dom, that is.
Will Mitch and Anna plead the fifth and follow the laws of nature rather than the laws they uphold in court?
Excerpt for Master Prince:
Guilianna lowered her eyes not because Kate told her a submissive kept her head and gaze down unless directed to do otherwise by her Dom, but because of the awkwardness. The warmth of his body against hers made her feel things she really didn’t want to acknowledge. It had been a long time since she’d dated let alone been this close to a man. I can’t be intimated by him again. It’s not professional. I have a job to protect my client, not play with the man who wants to humiliate me and destroy my career.
Mitch cupped her chin and forced her to meet his gaze. “Anna? What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours? I can see the wheels turning.”
He lowered his mouth to hers with a sweet gentleness, the impact or lack of one, stole her breath. His lips were warm and soft against hers. He pulled her closer, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He nibbled along the seam of her lips until she opened. His kiss intensified, dominating her mouth with his thrusting tongue, tangling with hers, taking what he wanted without any protest from her. She squirmed in his arms, and he tangled one hand in her hair. He finally broke the kiss by pulling her head back. Heat and arousal flared throughout her body as she stared into his steely-blue eyes, trying to catch her breath.
“God, I’ve wanted to kiss you since the press conference. You drive me crazy, little mouse.” He captured her mouth again with the same intensity. She groaned in response. Every cell in her body awakened. “You’re argumentative and independent and sexy as hell. I swore if you didn’t show up tonight, I’d track you down and take you wherever you were at the time.”
Guilianna ran her fingers through his thick hair. The first time she saw him he had that scary black leather hood on, and she couldn’t see it. At her office she got her first look and had itchy fingers then. At the time, the idea of doing it took her by surprise. She didn’t know him well enough to be so intimate. Now, luxuriating in the silky feel flooded her thoughts.
“You’re a bad man, Mister Prince, and I don’t associate with bad men.” She couldn’t believe the words came out so seductive. She really didn’t like him, but the way he made her body react to his touch, his kisses, and his dominance may have her rethinking that. Shellac!
“You’re a stubborn woman, little mouse. You continue to disobey my wishes, and I won’t hesitate to show you I mean business. Now try again. Address me properly.”
Double Shellac! “Yes, Sir.” She put on a smile, but she wasn’t happy about it. “It was a playful comment. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, did ya?” She mumbled keeping her head down.
“Hey!” The stinging slap against her thigh smarted, and her hand came up in defense. She’d defied her father in the same manner when she turned sixteen—the last time she let him hit her. With him usually drunk by mid-afternoon, with slow reactions, she’d been able to grab the belt and yanked, knocking him off-balance. He’d stumbled and fell flat on his face. Mitch’s reflexes weren’t slow or hampered with alcohol, plus he was bigger than her father. He grabbed her wrist before she connected her defensive move.
“Don’t even try it, little mouse. I warned you. I think you’re quite alert and ready to take your punishment from Master Terrence.” He stood, pulling her to her feet with him.
“I said sorry already. He accepted. What more does he need from me? Kiss his boots?” Scowling, he pulled her close, wrapped his hand around her wrist, and moved her across the floor to the opposite side of the club. “Where are you taking me?” She pulled fiercely against his grip, but got nowhere.
“You want to find out what really goes on with naughty, disrespectful subs? I’ll give you a few quick lessons in following the commands of your master.” He tugged her along behind him. His strength overwhelmed her.
