Life and Lies, which is the sequel to her book Rockin the Boss will have you swooning so make sure you check it out along with our talk today.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
First off thanks for having me Jamallah! I always love visiting with you. I'm Jamie Salisbury and I write women's fiction, both contemporary and historical, although most of it seems to be contemporary lately. I've always written in one form or another (technical for business or creative).
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time? LOL! I do enjoy anything equestrian - love to ride horses. I also like to travel. Closer to home I like to find old book shops or 'junk' stores and go through them. Sailing is something I love, but don't get a chance to do much of.
3. What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
My day is usually divided into two parts - and depending on story ideas - I usually start out by getting all my marketing, pr work and answering emails out of the way first thing in the morning. Then I can concentrate on writing. Of course that is all subject to change if I have a hot idea! Once I start writing though - stay away! I get snarly and will bite!
4. Where do you get your ideas from?
Real life mainly - a lot is from past experiences I've had. Sometimes I'll run across something or read something and it will keep coming back to me until I start jotting ideas down on paper.
5. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
Hmmm, that's a tough one. Probably the Tudor series - can't narrow down just one.
6. Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
Naw, think I'll pass on this one - there's very little that's funny about me - so it's best I keep a lid on it.
7. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
Oh yeah!! Real life baby!
8. Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
I tried naming my muse once - it pissed her off and she left. So now I just refer to them as 'good muse', 'bad muse' depending on what the situation is.
9. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I so want to get back into writing historical romance/fiction. Apart from that I've tried, not completed some paranormal. Fantasy would be another to ponder.
10. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
Gosh, that's a hard one! There are so many good ones out - and not just the New York Times/USA Today best sellers either.
11. Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
Another hard question Jamallah! They all hold a special place in my heart.
12. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Writers block. That and the fact the folks out there - around you - who don't write, don't understand the process just don't get it. They don't get the time needed to create; they think you can just drop what you're doing and go play with them the second they call. . .I recently had to deal with a situation like that and I had to finally get rude. LOL!
13. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Write - always write, keep writing! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it, that you're not good enough. Listen to your heart!
14. If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
I'd either be in the entertainment industry or I would have become an architect.
15. What would be the perfect Romantic getaway?
Just getting away - somewhere quiet, out of the way. No interruptions. . .doesn't matter where as long as it fits in that criteria.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Next Book: I have signed a three book contract with Secret Cravings Publishing. The series is called 'Heartfelt' and the first, "Where Love Takes Us" is due out in November.
Life and Lies - Blurb
The adventure continues…
The world is his oyster and Max Frazier knows that each and every pearl is his for the taking. At the top, a theater bearing his name in Las Vegas, performances sold out months in advance and record sales through the roof. Things couldn't get any better, could they?
Ashleigh Thomas, the fiery, no nonsense businesswoman who orchestrated this success, the only woman he's truly ever wanted is his bed and life. But first he and Ashleigh have a mission to do, one he never wanted her involved in.
Alive and quite well, Ashleigh's thought to be dead husband Richard lurks in the background, teasing and taunting. He deals in the underbelly of life - the sex trade business. Max and Ashleigh infiltrate his world of sex clubs and more with one objective in mind…to put an end to Richard's evilness and bring him to justice.
In doing so Ashleigh and Max discover a bond which expands and deepens as Max introduces and schools Ashleigh in the BDSM lifestyle. Will she allow him to lead her into temptation, and ultimately submit to Max? Or is her stubbornness and independent nature too much for even Max to contain?
Life has a funny way of dealing the cards. One day you're in bliss with the woman and family you love and longed for, the next it almost disappears. Forever, in the blink of an eye. . .but for the sheer determination of one agent who secretly blames himself for pushing the couple too deep calls in every favor owed him.
Life and Lies - Excerpt
“No way! No f-in’ way in f-in’ hell am I going to partake if that is what they want me to do. No way!”
Max lay on his back, his muscular forearm now over his eyes while he listened to my rant. He’d known all along that my reaction would be exactly what he was hearing. I was also sure it was his job to convince me otherwise.
“Max, are you listening to me?” I pushed his arm away from his face. “There is no way I’m going to be part of some of the kinky crap you’re suggesting.”
“Well love, if you refuse the agency will be forced to place an active, experienced female agent with me.” I could feel his glare as he watched my reaction closely.
“So what you’re telling me is…if I don’t learn this lifestyle and go undercover with you where we’ll partake in this crap, you’ll go undercover anyway. Only you’ll go with a female agent who is already trained in this stuff. Did I leave anything out?” I sat abruptly upright on the bed and swung my legs over the side. I was pissed. Angry over the entire situation.
“No, you didn’t leave anything out, and yes that’s exactly what’s going to happen if you decide you’d rather not participate.”
I nervously paced the bedroom. My head was spinning and had a good idea what may come next.
“Tell me something Max. You obviously trained for this during the time you were away. I can’t imagine you having to re-learn how to handle weapons for six weeks. So you want to tell me about this part of your training or should I just leave it up to my imagination?”
“Ashleigh, you don’t know anything about this lifestyle so don’t try and imagine what is entailed. And yes, I trained with an experienced female as well as an experienced Dom.”
I felt sure he neglected to mention the fact that he had dabbled in the lifestyle prior to meeting me. I had done my research and it had been long before we ever met. It had evidently been a way for him to decompress after his missions with the SAS.
