1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
I live in the small historical town of Appomattox, which is also known as, “Where our nations reunited.” In fact, in April, there will be a five day Sesquicentennial celebration. This will mark the 150th anniversary of the meeting of Generals Lee and Grant, which ended the Civil War. And although I don’t consider myself a history buff, I’m looking forward to attending. I’m also a single mom, and an honorary granny, and I’m loving life!
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Here lately I’ve been doing research on ‘me’ and my ancestors. It’s been pretty cool to learn who they were and where they came from. I also love listening to 80’s music and going vintage and sale shopping.
3. Where do you get your ideas from?
My first and truest response to that question is: “They tell me their story.” I know that it makes me sound kinda’ crazy, but really that’s about the most honest answer I can give. It’s like watching a movie that plays in my head and I just write what “they” decide to tell me or show me.
4. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, which would be your favorite and why?
So far, I would have to say Safe With Him, the 2nd book in the Safe Series, would be my favorite although His Safe Keeping will always hold a special place in my heart. After all, it was the first book I ever wrote.
5. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
Some of the things that I’ve written about, such as horseback riding, 4-wheeling, muddin’ and bon-fires, are all from personal experiences. Everything else is research and the characters in my head.
6. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I’ve been playing around with two different paranormal series, so at some point I’m planning on venturing into that genre.
7. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
My very favorite would have to be J. D. Robb. I absolutely love her In Death series. However, I also love Maggie Shane, Christine Feehan, and J. R. Ward, to name a few.
8. Who are your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
My favorite male character would be Kade from His Safe Keeping. He’s a big alpha-male with a gruff way about him, but he also has a big and loving heart that he’s not afraid to show…in his own gruff way. Bree, from Safe With Him, would be a favorite female character. She’s quirky and funny and not afraid to say what she wants to say, even though she’s had a rough beginning. She’s also a bit of a smart ass, which I love.
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
For me, the hardest thing so far, is the time. Some days just finding an hour or two to sit down and write is almost an impossible feat.
10. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
I’m still pretty new at this writing stuff myself. But I would say to just go for it! If it’s something you love, then don’t let anything hold you back. Write! Write! Write!
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Safe With Him is book 2 in The Safe Series, Draco and Bree’s story. Draco’s a specialty trained state police detective who is good at his job and good at being a man whore. Bree is a woman that, because of her past, hates cops. They’re physical attracted to each other from the beginning, but she doesn’t trust cops, and he can’t quite understand his own reactions and choices he makes because of her.
The next book in the Safe Series will be Storm’s story. I’m working on book 3 now, and hope that you have enjoyed books 1 and 2. Thank you to all the readers of these books, and come and see me on Facebook, or leave me a message on Twitter or Goodreads! None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for you, the readers!!
