1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
Well, I’m an Aries and I like long walks on the beach…lol! As you can tell I can be a little ‘special’ at times. I’m a desert rat (Arizonian) who was raised in Texas, Georgia, and mostly Louisiana. I was a single mother for years until I met and married my fairytale of a hubby. Now life consists of barely contained chaos between 4 kiddos, 2 boston terriers, and 2 mastiffs. Yes, we threaten to runaway often, but don’t be scared, we love it!
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time? What the heck is that? Lol J In my quote, unquote spare time I am the owner/operator of my hair salon, Essence of Beauty. When I’m not doing that or writing, I’m in the kitchen working with my hubby at his business, ‘Big Daddy’s Little BBQ’. Life is great, but extremely busy! J
3. What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
Well, what works for me is that I started brainstorming with my hubby, critique buddy Liz Munoz (hey girlie!) and various clients usually I start to get a clear mental picture of a storyline and a cast of characters.
4. Where do you get your ideas from?
Songs, movies I wished were done differently, news, something I’ve experienced or someone I know has experienced. No worries, I change circumstances and names up to protect the not so innocent! LolJ
5. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
Oh, most definitely my latest, Unspoken Heat. Jacob and Symone have been in my head for awhile now and its nice to finally see them out and their story being told.
6. Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
I was once a fire-eating stripper down in Tijuana, Mexico? LMAO!!! Just messin’ with you, I can’t eat fire ya’ll J
7. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
Partly my little ‘ol imagination and real life experiences.
8. Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
Yes, my muse is called Mtn Dew! I can’t write at night without the stuff! J Sad, but true…
9. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
Oh, without a doubt Paranormal and Urban Fantasy Romance. I can’t wait until later on this year when I start writing on the first book of a urban fantasy series I have working on. Woohoo!
10. Who are your favorite authors that are out now? How long you got? It’s a long list, lol!
Sherrilyn Kenyon, Penny Jordan, Brenda Jackson (Westmoreland Series), Christine Feehan, Angela Knight, Jennifer Ashley, Nora Roberts, and last but in no way least Erin Kellison! Whew…
11. Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
Jacob and Symone in Unspoken Heat so far. Jacob reads as a tough guy who is effortlessly sensual and commanding and will do anything to protect the ones he cares about, but he has yet to lose control and tap into the passionate side of himself with the right woman. And that’s where Symone comes in. She passionate, caring and independent with a quirky sense of humor that instantly charm and intrigue Jacob out of his comfort zone. In the end when their worlds collide, its explosive!
12. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Finding a corner or a cave quiet enough so I can get in a good head space to connect with my characters and their world.
13. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Join your local writers groups and network with other writers and most importantly, write everyday to build your writing muscle J
14. If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
LOL, funny you should ask that! I’m also an owner/operator hairstylist at my salon, so I guess I would still be doing everyone’s ‘do’!
15. What do you like on a man…..briefs, boxer briefs or boxer shorts or nothing at all?
Definitely boxer shorts! Sexy and functional! lol
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Protective Heat Book 2 Heat Series
All is not what it seems…
Beautiful up and coming actress Vivaca Carlton had everything she’d thought she had ever wanted. Her talent had acquired her enough fame and money to leave the roots of her broken childhood behind and make her loved by all.
All except one. He wanted only her death.
Someone to protect her…
Hired to protect the actress, Quinn Thomas is prepared to be professional and get the job done despite his past distrust of women in the industry. But when he sets his eyes on Vivaca, he knows that guarding her body will be anything but professional.
From sizzling to burning hot, they will both break the bonds of their pasts to claim a love that is worth protecting.
“Take it easy.” He calmly commanded as he stared down into to her beautiful eyes that now sparkled with anger.
Taking it easy was the last thing on her mind at that point. She already had too many people telling her what to do and she’d be damned if she was going to let a total stranger add in his two cents.
“Let—me—go…” The words were bitten out like jagged shards of glass as Vivaca tried to keep a lid on her emotions.
Looking down into her angry hazel gaze, Quinn felt a pang of regret that he had to put up such a hard front with her, but business was business. From personal experience he knew that beauty could hide a multitude of sins. So he stilled himself against any sympathy he might have been tempted to feel and once again took control of the situation.
“If you stop acting like a crazed woman, I wouldn’t have to be a human straight jacket.” At his words, he saw her eyes slit with ire. But instead of him feeling threatened, the look only served to make her look even sexier.
“No.” The low refusal from between her lush lips was followed by a sudden and purposeful shift of her legs.
Guessing her intent, his special training instantly kicked into gear as he instinctively blocked her knee from his private area and jerked her dangerous curves even harder against his body. The added contact made his desire from earlier hit his body hot and hard as Quinn got up close and personal with the reality of Vivaca’s curves.
“Lady, calm the hell down.” He bit the words off as he tried unsuccessfully to push down the need building uncontrollably within him. With no other way to gain back control of the situation, he did the only he could…he took swift, brutal possession of her soft, plump lips.
At first he told himself he was teaching her a lesson—that it was the only to make her stop her foolishness and behave. But soon all good intention was replaced with nothing but need.
As Vivaca continued her stubborn quest to remain unaffected and not submit to his will, Quinn sensually mastered his way past her defenses. Changing his hard-nosed approach, he softly teased his way between her lips and suckled decadently on her tongue. The second he did, her eyes helplessly closed on a soft moan of surrender and he felt all fight leave her curvy body and instead she leaned further into him seeking more.
Now that their silent battle of wills had ceased, time itself stopped to be replaced by nothing but mutual need. Whether it was his need feeding her or hers feeding his—it no longer mattered.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew that this was crazy and that he had no business kissing her, but now that he’d had a taste of her sweet honey he wanted more. So much more. ***
