Nicole Andrews Moore is talking with me about her Books in The New Hope Series also talking a bit about herself.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
Well, I’m married, a mother of three. My oldest is turning 21 on the 30th. My youngest just turned 3. I’m blessed to be a stay at home mom. When I’m not writing, I’m building my other book related businesses with my friend and business partner. We run Budget Bookworm and Love Kissed Books magazine.
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
What spare time? Oh, I manage to work quite frequently on vacation. I love to cook, which works out well because I also love to eat.
3. Where do you get your ideas from?
Life has this wonderful way of providing book material. Mostly it’s about paying attention, knowing enough to take notes. Luckily, with a smartphone, even without paper at the ready, I still manage to record the ideas.
4. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, which would be your favorite and why?
Hmm. It’s like asking me to pick a favorite child. (The older ones would say it’s the baby, by the way.) Yeah, I think I’m most proud of my New Hope Series. This is our love story. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out, even if it took forever and surprised me every step of the way.
5. Are any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
I have a few that were entirely imagination, like The Davenport Agency Books. Hiding Out and Finally Found were pure fiction.
6. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I’d love to write more romantic suspense. There’s something about having your heart pounding and blood pumping for multiple reasons.
7. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
I love this new author, Amelie Stephens. She writes romantic comedy. Scarlett Jade is fantastic. She writes just about everything. She’s my hero.
8. Who are your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
I love Marti and Joey from the New Hope series. They are so real, flawed, just like the rest of us.
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Keeping the stories fresh is such a challenge. I once took a literature class in college and learned there really are only about four (my professor is going to kill me for forgetting this) or five basic plots in all the world. We just keep retelling them. If you really analyze literature, you’ll see it’s true. It’s all in the telling.
10. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Do it because you love it, because you HAVE to write, not because you think you’re going to make all kinds of money and be rich and famous. The industry can be very fickle. The competition is fierce.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
My most recent release was the New Hope Boxed Set, comprised of Stormy Surrender, Tempest Torn, and Under Umbrellas.
Here’s the blurb:
Visit New Hope, the small town with plenty of southern charm!
Sometimes the life you planned isn’t the one you get to live. Sometimes the pain of the past overshadows the future. And sometimes to start over you have to go back to where it all began. That’s how it was for Joe Masters. That’s how he ended up back in New Hope. And that’s why he was in his thirties and had nothing to show for his life. He needed a complete overhaul, just like his father’s old house. Instead of a fast track, he had slowed down and was on a ten year plan. These days that was more his speed. And as much as he tried to fight the inevitable, he was learning to accept and surrender.
Martha had weathered her fair share of storms in Vermont, was accustomed to the cold, both the chill in the air and the cold shoulder in her marriage, but after the miscarriage she felt like she would never get warm again. So she did the research from the laptop while sitting in front of the fireplace. She knew what she needed when she Googled ‘hope,’ she just never imagined that it would bring her to New Hope, South Carolina. She never imagined that her husband would trick her into leaving and never follow. She never imagined that a southern storm with all its force and fury could be so destructive. But after the storm, the land is washed clean. It’s perfect for a fresh start, a clean slate, and a new love.
Book Two of the New Hope Series full of small town charm and southern romance
A night of passion. A raging fire. A home destroyed.
The sun returned and Joey and Marti felt they had turned a corner in their relationship. Only when they turned that corner, they ran right into the insurance adjustor, Finn. She wasn't just any woman, though. She was the one woman Joey always believed he’d spend the rest of his life with, but they couldn’t make it work. Soon it was obvious that she didn’t just want to adjust the value of the house, but remind Joey of the value of their relationship, and adjust his attitude about the future.
Suddenly, Joey struggles to choose between two women…one who has never and would never hurt him and one that his heart can’t let go despite the hurt. He’s not the only one with a choice to make. Never again will Marti allow anyone to make her question her own worth.
A tempest brews. A man is torn. A woman refuses to wait.
Book Three of the New Hope Series, set in a small charming southern town
It has been six months since Marti agreed to marry Joey. Despite her history, she’s having a healthy pregnancy. They finally have her house to themselves and Joey has finished her To Do list. Life should be perfect, but it’s not. Joey is pressuring Marti to make it legal before the baby arrives, which is proving impossible since Blaine refuses to let go. Their situation is further complicated when Finn refuses to go away. Add in a town divided, a legacy to uphold, and a particularly vicious hurricane season, and then hang on.
Because life is full of storms and love means sharing an umbrella.
