Today Michel Prince is with me today talking about her book "The Teacher's Heart" the 4th book in The Growing Strong Series as well as talking a bit about herself.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
I’m a wife and mother of one teenage boy. I received a degree in history and political science way, way back many centuries ago… or so it feels.
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time is usually spent at a ball game of some sort or another. When I’m lucky I get to go to the theatre with my husband.
3. Where do you get your ideas from?
The world around me mixed with historical facts. I’m a history buff, it’s my major and I love learning new things. Sometimes I’ll learn about an ancient society and it will spark me into tying it into things happening today. Other times it’s a half heard conversation, a great picture or I stumble across a hidden gem in a city.
4. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, which would be your favorite and why?
The Growing Strong series has become my favorite. The four girls are diverse, but incredibly loyal. With sharp wit that catches me off guard even when I’m writing them.
5. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
There’s a bit of me in every story. It might be a conversation or fun time I had with my husband. Sometimes it’s just a favorite drink or food.
6. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
I’d love to write a mystery, but I’m not at that level yet.
7. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
Judy Blume, Darynda Jones, J. R. Ward, Sidney Sheldon
8. Who are your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
I love Rhage, Zsadist, and Vishous from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. These three alpha males each have a great qualities and are total putty in their wives hands. Charlie Davidson is a smart ass, flawed and loyal she’s the ultimate woman to me.
9. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Finding the time and life balance. You have characters running through your head probably twenty three hours a day. You want to interact with your family and the world with out seeming like a crazy person. At the same time you need to find time to step back and reset.
10. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Write when you can. I saw somewhere that a bad first draft is better than no draft. Mix that with people saying they never have time, you can make the time, even if it’s just a half hour here or there. It all ends up adding up and soon you’ll have a full book.
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
Over the last three books of the Growing Strong Series Mandy Butler has watched her best friends fall in love all while her life seems to being falling apart.
There's no way Amanda Butler would ever let herself get attached to anyone. Sure, sex is fun, but love is for suckers. Her parents taught her that. She has her friends, a job she loves, and lots of fun flings. Everything she thinks she wants.
Ashton Gilmore is at a crossroads when he meets Amanda. She's every thing he's ever wanted in a real relationship, but she might have too much baggage for even this hot political fixer handle.
Ashton has to find a way to teach Mandy that love exists, before she gives up on the concept all together.
Mandy tossed her bag on the counter as she flipped on lights. She couldn’t remember the last time she came home alone and to an empty house. Silence ate at her and she quickly went to the shower. It was time to reset and refocus. She knew what to do when her home was going away. Roommate and apartment listings on Craigslist would be her night. Well, that and I Love Rock and Roll, her new favorite time and brain suck reality show.
Warm water cascaded over her skin and she instantly turned to remove the shower head and adjust it. Sarah could be quite the softy when it came to everything, and Mandy didn’t have the time for that. With a flick of her thumb she was violently sprayed with scorching water directly in her face.
“Mother f***ing son of b***h,” she screamed, more at herself for being so damn stupid and facing the nozzle toward her face instead of at the drain.
With the shower back in place she let the sting of heat beat against her skin, penetrating deeper than she’d thought possible. Tangling her fingers in her hair she massaged the shampoo, allowing the hard spray to remove the bubbles. The mixture of soft and hard helped her relax. With her hands flat on the wall in front of her, she gave herself over to the shower.
“I like that moan,” a deep voice said. She stood straight up. “Are you using the showerhead for its intended purpose or have you gone all manual with it?”
“How did you get in my house?” Mandy bit at Ash.
“Sarah needed a change of clothes, she’s sleeping at Karen’s.”
“I heard the shower and vulgar language. Knew only one person could be in there.”
“Well, you’re wrong. I’m with someone and that explained the moan.”
“Hmm…” her panties floated over the top of the shower curtain. “These look more like your size and they’re alone.”
“He went commando. You know how I hate unwrapping presents.”
Mandy stood with the water crashing over her and her arms crossed over her breasts.
“What kind of man wouldn’t come out here and kick my ass for being so presumptuous?” Ash asked, and Mandy peeked around the edge of curtain to see him leaning against the wall holding her salmon colored lace panties out in front of him.
“A naked one.”
“So he’s threatened by me wearing clothes?”
“Yes, it’s not a fair fight.”
A moment later a whoosh sounded as Ash pulled the curtain half way and stood in all his naked glory before her.
“Is he on the other half of the tub?” he teased. “That’s fucked up. He gets all the water and you get nothing. I’d never do that to you.”
Mandy forced herself not to lick her lips or widen her eyes. Worse yet she was not looking down. Not down the hard pecs that sat above a perfect six pack and that V pointing down.
“F*** me,” she whispered in defeat.
“If you insist.” Ash stepped toward the shower, and Mandy stuck her hand out to stop him. “Oh, were you talking to the invisible man in the shower with you?”
