Today I have the amazing Amanda Ward with me today talking about her latest book "Without Saying A Word" as well as giving us a look at the cover for her next book "The MisAdventures of Pann Haggerty" with my publisher Secret Cravings.
1. Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?
I'm not one for talking about myself. Waves hi from a chair in Bedfordshire UK. I'm Amanda Ward. I have written two books, of which one is published with Books To Go Now and my second is due for release in the middle of September. I'm a full time mother, wife and as of October will be a student with the Open University. Currently have a broken ankle so my leg is in plaster!
2. Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love reading, watching tv and films. Listening to music. Spending time with my family. Cooking and of course eating!
3. What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?
I don't have a routine as yet. I am waiting for the kids to start school and then work out a timetable as I have the uni course starting in October so need to plan my time.
4. Where do you get your ideas from?
My warped sense of humour and life mainly. I write stuff I myself would like to read if that makes sense.
5. Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?
I'm writing out my crush for Richard Armitage at the moment. Having a lot of fun with that. It desperately needs a new title though.
6. Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?
Crikey! I guess I have the strangest taste in actors. I had a crush on Maxwell Caulfield (from Grease 2) for years! Also I know all the words to Grease 2 and quite a few Doris Day films
7. Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?
Imagination mainly. However Laura's emotions in Without Saying A Word are based on my own experiences with depression, anxiety attacks and her domestic abuse.
8. Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?
He has all sorts of names. Of which I can't say on here as he is being rather naughty and not being musey at all. I'd say he's probably on holiday at the moment.
9. What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?
Historical or time travel romance would be next on my list.
10. Who are your favorite authors that are out now?
There are too many. I stay faithful to them and always buy their new books. So I don't want to forget one.
11. Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?
Currently I am editing so I would have to say Pann and Joe are my favs. Pann is not afraid to be herself, say what she thinks and pulls herself out the rut she has gotten into. She is travelling around America thoroughly enjoying herself and staying totally English. Joe is just 'sigh' wonderful. Steady, sexy, handsome and determined to make Pann realise that he is the man for her, and he is right under her nose. Joe really is the good guy (and he can cook too!)
12. What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?
Getting started and continuing the writing. I haven't got the answer to that I'm afraid
13. What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?
Be yourself. Use your own voice. Love your characters and the story.
14. If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?
I would love to work in a stately home telling visitors about the display. Or perhaps a librarian.
15. What would be the perfect Romantic getaway?
Anywhere the kids would leave us alone!
Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?
After being in love with his older neighbor Laura since they met a year ago, Rhean Tate, Viscount Kirkleigh seizes his chance to make her his, when her past reappears threatening her and her children’s safety. This thirty-
four year old male virgin, whisks her into marriage vowing to protect and cherish Laura and her family, with his name and noble family connections.
Will Laura feel overwhelmed by Rhean and run away. Her abusive marriage left her with scars on the inside as well as on the outside. Will she allow her barriers to crumble and be the woman and wife she desires?
Rhean saw the conflicting emotions in her face and knew deep down that now was his chance. He seized it. Moving closer to her, his thigh pressed against hers.
“Laura,” he whispered her name raggedly. When she tried to turn away, Rhean stroked her face with a long finger back to him.
“Please,” he begged, his voice harsh and raw with emotion.
Their breaths mingled, and his hand rested on her smooth cheek, caressing it with his thumb. At the same time, yet hesitantly, gently, his mouth covered hers. A delicious sensation of caressing more than kissing flooded him. Rhean's lips thrummed from the feel of her mouth on his, but then as if in a blind panic she turned her face away from him, and broke their kiss. Rhean pulled her back into his arms
″No,″ he whispered, “Trust me Laura.” As they embraced, his mouth recaptured hers crushing her to him, deepening the kiss. Tentatively his tongue slipped onto hers. Stroking, dancing, they melded into one, aware of nothing but each other.
Rhean's heart soared. He was lost in the heady sweetness of her taste on his tongue and his lips. Finally, he hoped, she would be his.
“Mother!” Rhean and Laura moved apart.
